Car Rental Requirements in Turkey for Foreign Drivers

Foreign tourists visiting Turkey and professionals on business trips can easily rent a car from SAW Rent A Car. We offer service in 5 languages (Turkish, English, German, Russian, Arabic), so you can communicate with us easily.

Required documents:

  • Valid passport or identity document
  • Driving licence (licences from Turkey, EU countries and many other countries are valid directly)
  • International driving licence (required for licences in Turkish or in a non-Latin alphabet)

Easy payment: A credit card is not required. Cash, EFT or bank transfer are accepted. This practice is quite rare in Turkey's car rental sector; it is an advantage especially for long-term rentals or large groups.

Age limit for foreign drivers: Minimum age 21. A young driver fee may apply to drivers aged 21–25; ask for details during booking.

Insurance cover: Comprehensive insurance (kasko) and compulsory traffic insurance are standard on all our rentals. Detailed insurance support is provided for all damage, whether of domestic or foreign origin.

Car Rental Without a Credit Card — A Rare Advantage in Turkey

Most of the big car rental chains require a credit card. SAW Rent A Car makes the difference here: we accept cash, EFT and bank transfer as payment.

This service is especially valuable for the following groups:

  • Foreign visitors who do not have a credit card
  • Corporate customers renting on behalf of a company
  • Businesses that want invoice-based payment for long-term rentals

All payment options are transparent and documented. An invoice and an official contract are issued for every rental.

Monthly Car Rental — Long-Term Solutions

For those staying in Turkey for 30 days or longer, our monthly rental plans offer prices far below the daily rental rate. Ideal for corporate companies, long-term visitors and project-based workforces.

Benefits of monthly rental:

  • 30–50% lower unit cost compared with daily rental
  • A fixed car — not a different car every day, but your own car
  • Long-term comprehensive insurance cover and car maintenance included
  • Invoicing: individual or corporate

For monthly rental requests, we recommend booking at least 20 days in advance. Contact us for detailed information about our current fleet and segments.

21+ Young Drivers — Car Rental in Turkey

The standard car rental age in Turkey is 21. SAW Rent A Car allows young drivers aged 21–25 to rent a car at all our locations.

Conditions for drivers aged 21–25:

  • The minimum age and years of licence depend on the car: some cars can be rented at 21 with a licence held for 2 years; in the upper segment the requirement rises to 25–27 years of age and 5–7 years of licence. The requirement for the car you choose is shown on its car card on the booking screen.
  • An additional young driver fee may apply — find out the amount during booking
  • Economy and mid-size cars are preferred; an age requirement of 25 may apply to large SUVs or the luxury segment

For young drivers, economy cars are the most affordable starting segment. SUVs are also available for the Cappadocia, Aegean coast or Black Sea routes.
