There are some important conditions to consider before renting a car. Car rental companies require certain standards from users both to ensure driving safety and to carry out operational processes smoothly. These conditions cover topics such as age, licence period, payment and deposit.
In this article we explain the car rental conditions at SAW Rent A Car: the age and licence requirements that vary by car, payment and deposit, additional drivers, and pickup and return rules.
To rent a car you need a valid Class B driving licence. The minimum age and years of licence depend on the car: some cars can be rented at 21 with a licence held for 2 years; in the upper segment the requirement rises to 25–27 years of age and 5–7 years of licence. The requirement for the car you choose is shown on its car card on the booking screen.
According to the car cards on the booking screen, for example, the Renault Megane, Toyota Corolla, Peugeot 2008 and Hyundai Tucson require age 25 and a licence held for 5 years; the Peugeot 3008, Peugeot 5008 and Peugeot Expert Traveller require age 27 and a licence held for 7 years. The requirement for each car is listed in the table below.
Booking is free; you pay when you pick up the car. On the car card on the booking screen this option reads “Reserve the vehicle for free, pay at the vehicle.”
The deposit amount depends on the car and is shown on the car's card when you book. If the car is returned complete and on time and there is no outstanding debt, the deposit is refunded, or the block is released, within 6 business days of the return date (Rental Conditions, article 4.11).
The accepted payment and deposit methods are shown during booking and when you pick up the car.
The requirement is set per car, not per group. For example, in the same Standart group the Fiat Egea with manual transmission can be rented at 21 with a licence held for 2 years, and with automatic transmission at 21 with a licence held for 3 years. The table below shows, car by car, the requirement written on the car cards on the booking screen.

The lowest age requirement on the car cards is 21. If you are 21 and have held your licence for at least 2 years, you can rent the Fiat Egea (manual), Fiat Fiorino and Ford Courier; with at least 3 years, also the Opel Corsa, Renault Clio, Hyundai i20, Citroen C3, Renault Taliant, Fiat Egea (automatic) and Hyundai Bayon. The Fiat Doblo requires age 23 and 3 years, the Dacia Duster age 25 and 3 years.
An additional driver must meet the same requirement: the age and licence period on the car card apply to everyone who will drive the car.
If someone other than the person renting the vehicle wishes to use it, the additional driver service option should be preferred. The additional driver must also meet the vehicle rental conditions (such as age and license duration). Additionally, the additional driver must be added to the rental agreement and must sign it.
If a person not listed in the rental agreement has an accident while driving the vehicle, all insurance becomes invalid. In this case, both the renter and the driver are held legally and financially responsible.
The car is returned with the same fuel level as when you picked it up. In case of return with insufficient fuel, a service fee is charged in addition to the fuel cost.
If you return the car late, additional rent is charged for the delay. If the return is intercity, a one-way fee may also be charged.
