At SAW Rent A Car, the age and licence requirement for renting a car is not a single number; it is set per car. In this article we list, car by car, the requirements shown on the car cards on the booking screen and explain which cars you can rent based on your age and how long you have held your licence.
To rent a car you need a valid Class B driving licence. The minimum age and years of licence depend on the car: some cars can be rented at 21 with a licence held for 2 years; in the upper segment the requirement rises to 25–27 years of age and 5–7 years of licence. The requirement for the car you choose is shown on its car card on the booking screen.
Age and licence period apply together: to rent a car, both your age and the number of years you have held your licence must meet the minimum shown on that car's card. For example, a 30-year-old driver who got their licence 4 years ago cannot rent the Renault Megane, which requires a licence held for 5 years, but can rent the Dacia Duster, which requires 3 years.
The table below shows the minimum age and licence period written on the car cards on the booking screen. The requirement can differ even within the same group: in the Standart group, the Fiat Egea with manual transmission can be rented at 21 with a licence held for 2 years, and with automatic transmission at 21 with a licence held for 3 years.

Source: car cards on the sawrentacar.com booking screen (Samsun Çarşamba Airport, search for 11–18 October 2026; read on 27 September 2026). The fleet may vary by location and date; the requirement for the car you choose is shown on its car card on the booking screen.
The lowest age requirement on the car cards is 21; drivers under 21 do not meet the requirement of any car in this search. The groups below are compiled from the requirements in the table; in each group you can also rent the cars listed in the previous group.
If you have held your licence for at least 2 years, you can rent the Fiat Egea (manual), Fiat Fiorino and Ford Courier. With at least 3 years, the Opel Corsa, Renault Clio, Hyundai i20, Citroen C3, Renault Taliant, Fiat Egea (automatic) and Hyundai Bayon are added.
If you have held your licence for at least 3 years, you can also rent the Fiat Doblo in addition to the cars listed for ages 21–22.
With a licence held for at least 3 years, the Dacia Duster is also among your options. With at least 5 years, you can also rent the Renault Megane, Toyota Corolla, Peugeot 2008 and Hyundai Tucson.
If you have held your licence for at least 7 years, you can rent every car in the table; the Peugeot 3008, Peugeot 5008 and the 9-seat Peugeot Expert Traveller require this.
Everyone who will drive the car must meet the same requirement. Under the Rental Conditions, the car is driven by the driver and additional drivers who meet the age limit and licence period stated on the delivery form (Rental Conditions, article 4.7). If you have an additional driver, make sure they also meet the requirement on the card of the car you choose.
If the car is driven by a driver who does not meet the age or licence-period limit, the guarantees and insurance become invalid even if they have been paid for, and the renter is held liable for the damage together with the driver (Rental Conditions, article 6.10).
The lowest age requirement on the car cards on the booking screen is 21. Some cars can be rented at 21 with a licence held for 2 years; in the upper segment the requirement rises to 25–27 years of age.
The shortest licence period required on the car cards is 2 years. If you have held your licence for less than 2 years, you do not meet the requirement of any car in this search; check the requirements of the cars for your dates and pickup location on the booking screen.

The lowest requirement for an automatic car is age 21 and 3 years (Opel Corsa, Renault Clio, Citroen C3, Renault Taliant, Fiat Egea, Hyundai Bayon).
The Fiat Doblo requires age 23 and a licence held for 3 years; the 9-seat Peugeot Expert Traveller requires age 27 and 7 years.
