Holidaymakers and members of the Turkish diaspora flying to Antalya from Germany, Austria or Switzerland collect their car at Antalya Airport (AYT): in the booking form of SAW Rent A Car, Antalya is one of the pick-up points among 15 airports and Bursa city centre. Driving licences from Germany, Austria and Switzerland are issued in the Latin alphabet and therefore meet our rental conditions; to book without a credit card, you can reach our customer service by WhatsApp or phone.

Antalya is one of the regions in Turkey most often chosen by holidaymakers from German-speaking countries; on the same planes, diaspora families living in Germany, Austria and Switzerland also come to their home region or to the coast. You can take a transfer from the airport to the hotel and spend the whole holiday there; but for anyone who wants to reach the bays along the coast, the ancient cities or the mountain villages, having your own car changes the plan of the holiday. This page explains a holiday in Antalya with a rental car through the questions of our German-speaking guests; our booking system has welcomed more than 50,000 guests so far.
There are direct and connecting flights to Antalya from many airports in Germany, Austria and Switzerland; timetables change with the season. Whichever city you depart from, you collect the car at Antalya Airport.
After the airport, your route depends on the region where you will stay:
All pick-up points in the form are on our pick-up points list; meet-and-greet is provided at every point, including Antalya Airport.
When planning your Antalya holiday with a rental car, you can follow this order:
Driving licences issued in Germany, Austria and Switzerland are printed in the Latin alphabet; this is exactly what our rental conditions look for in foreign licences: A national licence issued in the Latin alphabet or an international driving permit is accepted. Although Switzerland is not an EU member, its licence meets this condition in the same way. At the handover, an ID card or passport is shown together with the licence.
The minimum age and years of licence depend on the car: some cars can be rented at 21 with a licence held for 2 years; in the upper segment the requirement rises to 25–27 years of age and 5–7 years of licence. The requirement for the car you choose is shown on its car card on the booking screen.
Families on holiday in Antalya sometimes share the driving: one takes the wheel from the airport to the hotel, the other on day trips. If more than one person will drive the car, let our customer service know by WhatsApp or phone before booking.
The groups below were taken from the cards of the 19 cars in our search for 15 October–14 November 2026 (30 days), made on 30 September 2026 for Antalya Airport; each line shows the lowest driver requirement in that group:
If you plan to drive up to mountain villages or highland plateaus, find out about the road conditions in advance; in the 9-seat car the driver requirement is age 27 and 7 years of licence.
Some diaspora families come to Antalya from Germany in their own car; the journey crosses several countries and a large part of the holiday is spent on the way there and back. Those who fly and rent in Antalya collect the car at the airport and spend every day of the holiday in the region.
Whether in your own foreign-plated car or in a rental car, the following rules apply to toll roads in Turkey:
According to KGM, foreign-plated vehicles using toll motorways and bridges must have an HGS account with at least enough balance to cover the toll. An HGS account can be opened at PTT branches and agents at border gates and inside the country, or at bank branches; unpaid violations must be settled before you leave. Details: KGM – Foreign-plated vehicles.
In a rental car, crossings are deducted from the car's HGS balance; under art. 4.10 of the Rental Conditions, bridge, motorway and HGS/OGS tolls belong to the renter and the remaining balance is refunded at the end of the rental. Current rates are in our article bridge and motorway tolls for 2026.
Besides those who come to Antalya for a holiday of one or two weeks, there are also retirees who spend the winter months in Antalya. If the rental lasts 8–29 days, the weekly rate applies; for 30 days or more, the monthly rate applies; details are on our monthly car rental page.
If you will stay for a long time in the winter months, read the total mileage allowance and the fuel policy on the car card before booking.
If you need to extend your stay, write to our customer service by WhatsApp or phone; availability and price for the new date are checked together.
Those who want to travel westwards along the coast and end the holiday by flying home from Dalaman, Izmir or Milas-Bodrum can choose the return point in the form separately from the pick-up point; all of these airports are on the return list in the form. Details for Dalaman are on our Dalaman airport car rental page.
Confirm the fee for returning at a different point with our customer service by WhatsApp or phone before completing the booking.
When you book online, the payment options are shown on the card of the car you choose; you pick the one that suits you before confirming the booking.
If you have no credit card, make the booking through our customer service by WhatsApp or phone; payment can be arranged by bank transfer, EFT, cash, Wise or Revolut. All conditions for renting without a card are on our car rental without a credit card page.
